I would love to do that. But more on a boa.
FL has all those anti homeless laws. And SoCA has a massive homeless problem. You'll sleep better if you can go anywhere else.
Big Pine Key is gorgeous. You should take it. Lots of nature. I'd take it. There is some campground in the middle of Miami thats great and cheap. But they want to cater to RVs. There are cars with tents but not many.
I might get a job if I come down. Do you know how busy the fishing charter business is in the winter?
I looked up some of Florida's fishing regulations but I haven't memorized everything yet. I know the keys are part of a marine sanctuary. However, like any gov't website, the information was extremely convoluted. Any important things to know about areas that you can/can't fish, species that you can't keep, etc.
How cold is southern GA in the winter?

It's peak season. If you like to fish, I'd definitely get hired on a boat.
The regulations for fish change all the time according to the population. There are so many different kinds of fish there is no way to memorize it all. For instance sometimes you can only catch female grouper over 13 inches but less than 22 inches or some other crazy mess.
The water in the keys is all maritime national park. It is regulated and patrolled by about six different agencies (think Monroe County Sheriff, Coast Guard, etc).
I would look into renting from that gentleman. Outside Key West, it isn't horribly expensive to live. At least not by Key West standards.
Sounds like a wonderful adventure. It would be great if you kept a blog so that all of us stuck here in the Northeast could read it while the snow is piling up! Best of luck.

Good to know. Thanks. Six agencies, sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare . In a general sense are you allowed to fish on any public beach, flat, or bridge? Any no take zones? I know CA has crazy laws in regards to fishing. Really sad how they have managed the recreational fishery over there.
I was going to send him a PM but the forum told me I'm only allow two PMs per day.
I'm guessing this is what you have in mind, evidently its called tramping (Truck camping).
Not a lifestyle that appeals to every one but if its where you are at this part of your life enjoy as the prospect of family will soon negate this lifestyle.

I have an ambition to go on a short term camping expedition to see new parts of America. You can call it whatever you want. I think at the most I would do it for 4 months. The good thing is I can always just turn around if I'm uncomfortable. No interest in starting a family or getting married. I would like to start my own business and own a home one day though. I plan to keep a journal and a list of business ideas to try when I get home.
Way too many snakes and scorpions in Quartzite. You'd have to sleep in the truck.
