Wife and I are currently on a 1.5 year long trip with 44 liter backpacks. I don't need a 44 liter but she probably does (she tends to sometimes buy more dresses and crap as we go along) and I somehow got stuck carrying her travel yoga mat in mine.
For clothes I have exactly:
2 pairs pants
1 pair shorts
1 pair board shorts
3 collared shirts
3 t-shirts, one of which is a swim type for surfing/snorkeling
6 undies
2 pairs socks (we're mostly in SE Asia so flip flops rule)
flip flops
tennis shoes
If I was starting over I'd probably bring just one pair of pants, but I can't stand the thought of just throwing one away at this point. I also sometimes wish I had hiking shoes since have run into challenges in places like Borneo, but doesn't happen enough to be worth bringing them.
We do laundry every five days or so, usually just use a service since so cheap. I just turned in 3 kilos which will cost 60 baht or a little over $2. Have also used local laundromats and have a laundry kit with sink plug, dry line, and bar of laundry soap so we can wash our own when needed.
Other than that have the usual crap... small chromebook, kindle with about 300 books on it, smaller collapsible day pack, travel clock, flash light, etc.
I once spent a week in London when it rained the entire time. I had to wear wet shoes all week. Take an extra pair of shoes.
