Staying put. Money is tight right now but even if it wasn't, I'm not a fan of traveling on holiday weekends. I'd rather relax at home and not think about holiday traffic going to/from a popular destination. I prefer visiting places on "off" days/times of year.
Lucky I am not driving; Amtrak to NJ-Ct and back, sister driving to Massachusetts as my gf knows she wants to see her region (it is beautiful in many ways).
We are heading to Indianapolis. My partner is a big fan of road trips, while I hate the drive but enjoy doing something out of the ordinary. I don't consider that "traveling," though.
We bought a Salmon boat last weekend so we're taking the maiden voyage to Washington Island, WI. Fish on!
For those of you looking for something a little more unique, Labor day is the only day of the year you can walk across Mackinac Bridge. I'd recommend it to anyone. Unique perspective and gorgeous views.
I went to Cairo, Egypt (from Texas) over the Labor Day weekend...left on Thursday, got there Friday afternoon, left Tuesday morning. It was fast and fabulous!
