If you are probably passing through Knoxville, pull off and visit market square which is a pedestrian block with a dozen restaurants. The next street over is Gay st. with more restaurants, there is a bakery on the 100 block.
I'm planning to take a weekend and go visit Greenville in the spring, maybe March. I've passed through it many, many times but other than a stop for business never actually visited. The downtown area with restaurants and shops is up and coming from what I've read.
