If you go all the way to Thailand, you don't want to stop at Pattaya. It is like going to USA to visit Jersey shore.

Krabi, Koh Samui and Phi Phi islands, Phuket are much more beautiful and have better beaches.

Agree! No one goes to Pattaya for the "beach". Check out some YouTube videos on Pattaya before you make a choice. The beaches above are for the more traditional beach vacation. Also check out Ko Samet which is is a national park, though with some nice but basic accommodations.

If you want something a little quieter Ko Lanta, it's a short ferry ride from Krabi town.

I liked Sairee Beach which is the longest stretch of sand on the stunning island of Ko Tao. It is very popular among snorkelers and scuba divers. Although this is a relatively low-key area, it still boasts a number of nightclubs and bars.

Any idea if all those beaches in Thailand are engineered with sand mined somewhere? Like Jersey Shore? Or are they really natural?
