Nassau, Bahamas on one of those $99 3 day fly/hotel vacations back in 1982. Stayed at the Sheraton British Colonial it was a good deal. Now I can't stand Nassau and won't get off a cruise ship if it stops there. Unfortunately, many cruise lines make it a stop on the Eastern Carribbean route and routes from NYC and other non Miami ports.
England in 1948, when I was 1 year old. I was taken there by my mother, an English war bride, to be shown off to her family. That was my only meeting with my maternal grandfather, who died the next year, and of course I don't remember him, but I'm told he was pleased to meet me -- his first granddaughter.
Off-topic, but here's a cool thing I discovered doing genealogy research: I have an English ancestor named Robert Page,
who was born in 1820 and died in early 1916 (an amazing stretch of history). Had he lived just a few months longer,
he might've met his great-granddaughter, who was born later that year... and who would grow up to be my mother.
Stayed overnight before the start of our honeymoon cruise to the southern Caribbean where we, of course, visited more islands.
