I've been pouring over trip adviser and my head is spinning!

My daughter and I will be spending 3 night post cruise in Rome in May of 2019.

I would like a hotel close to city center, walking distance to some attractions.
Would like a hotel that has free wifi and breakfast, would also not want to go above $225 per night if at all possible.

Any suggestions??

Look at the Hotel Lancelot. It's in a quiet neighborhood just a short walk from the Colosseum, and very close to a subway stop and bus/tram stop. I stayed there for a week when I was in Rome, and loved it. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...ome_Lazio.html

We stayed at this hotel, but it was about 10 years ago. The rooms were a little outdated, but they were planning renovations. Breakfast was continental, they had fresh bread rolls delivered every morning, & a selction of jams, a few cheeses, simple but fresh. They also had jugs of fruit juices, no fresh fruits, & would make coffee to order, ( cappuccino, espresso etc)
The location was a short walk to the termini, maybe 2 short blocks. It was less than a block from the historic church Santa Maria Maggiore, which was a good place to get dropped by a taxi. The hop on hop off bus tours were also about a block away. Lidl ( a supermarket) was also less than a block, if you wanted to buy picnic or toiletries. The front desk can book tours, we took a tour through them, to Pompei for the day ( well worth it) It is on a side street, so taxi drivers do not know where it is, but they can arrange for a taxi to pick you up at the airport or wherever you will be.
Only Ok, if you are Ok with old buildings. We paid about E100 per night. Not an American chain hotel, but gives the flavor of Rpma.

eta I do not know about wifi, as back then, I did not have a wifi device with me.

To the poster that sent me a rep point with the comment you suggest I buy a couple of guide books rather then ask strangers on a board, first the "strangers" on the board are suggesting hotels they have stayed at, secondly unlike a guide book I can ask them questions if I have any, but hey thanks for the rep point

For what it's worth we rented an apartment through TripAdvisor and were very pleased with it. We needed two rooms since we had 5 people in our party, and the price point really made sense compared to paying for 2 rooms. Roman hotels are quiet expensive, as you'd imagine, so this was a nice way to cut costs a bit and stay someplace nice and clean.

We loved this place! Great central location walkable to many of the top attractions. Good size rooms. Great, friendly service. And a great price.
