WOW Air is usually pretty reasonable for Iceland, no?
Iceland air is cheaper, and the seats are a few inches further apart.
The flight is cheap, Iceland is very expensive, except the fish, everything comes from far.....
You can still island hop in the Caribbean doing cruise ship.
Two problems. Cruises normally just go to PR, VI and a couple of other countries, or if more, would cost a lot more than flights to destinations I choose.
Besides, just to get started, flights ORD to Virgin Islands are only $200 cheaper than to Bangkok.
Australia. I've been to Hobart and Sydney, but not for a lengthy visit. It's much too far away and too expensive for me to be making plans to return, as much as I'd love to.
Australia. I won't fly in Coach and the stash of 170,000 airline miles I had (before I used them to fly to India) weren't enough. My brother and SIL are there now- he's on a business trip and her Business Class seat took 400,000 miles. I could afford to pay the cash price and still pay for the mortgage and groceries but I won't. It's extortion. I have a conference in Honolulu next November but will be taking a cruise between Kona and Molokai instead of continuing to Australia.
The 3rd impediment to travel is age and decrepit old bones. We have booked a cruise for this winter. We leave the day after I turn 85. Walking tours are no longer doable, but we will have things to do. We will not be going to Europe again. We enjoyed Australia a lot, but that was many years ago.
We sold our trailer 3 years ago, so we are done with road trips. One summer alone we camped in 6 National Parks.
Cruises are easy if you avoid mega ships. Smaller ones are better, much better.
There are a lot of places in Africa that are horribly expensive, but some that are not' I stayed in a small hotel in Addis Ababa for $30 a night, including amazing home-cooked Ethiopian meals. Plane fares have gotten fairly reasonable, $800 RT Chicago to many African capitals. That would be $1400 for 3 weeks in Ethiopia. A 3-week road trip would cost double that, in your own car staying at Motel 6 and eating at Subway..
