Most of my friends and relatives love to travel to a beach or lake resorts and spend all their time lying around. They will sit there and read or nap. They love the total relaxation.

I like that for a day or two but then get bored.

My favorite vacation is one where I am learning something. Travel to an exotic country where people live a completely different reality than me. Or visit museums. Walk the streets of a city and see how people live. Physical and mentally challenging.

I mention my type of vacation to people and they roll their eyes and say that sounds terribly stressful.

What is your favorite type of vacation? For this question, you can only pick one type.

I travel for confirmation bias. I already know what I think, and I travel to confirm that viewpoint.

Once in a while, I change my opinion. I don't know whether to be pleased or disappointed when that happens.

Most of my travel is to visit family members & relatives. Occasional I have travel to visit friends (former colleagues mainly) who have invited me and combined it with local sightseeing in their neck of the woods.

Should add the option of BOTH. When I'm traveling I'm relaxed and I'm always learning something new!!

Not sure if I'd describe most of what I do on holiday as 'learning.' I do try to keep on the go, seeing as much as possible, and maybe it's best described as broadening my knowledge.

When I'm on a two to three week-long visit to the US, I find that every 7-10 days I have no choice but to stop and relax; After a week of being on the go, my body won't take any more.

Both. Even when I travel to another big city, it is relaxing for me to just stay in a nice hotel, etc. Then of course you learn something new- I always love seeing how people live in other cities
