Delta Air Lines has announced it would scrap the standard boarding process, which sees passengers walk on the plane according to the zone they’re assigned, and replace it with a new colour coded system that will be introduced on January 23.
The new system will prioritise people who pay more for their seat.
People should board in order of how much carryon they have. Those with the least carryon sit down first and shut up.
The flight crew boards 200 passengers in ten minutes, that's one every 3 seconds. It wouldn't hurt if the passengers would feel OK about helping them out a little.
Fastest boarding is starting with window seats / then center... rear to front.
Southwest works for me.
Get on,
find a seat (any seat)
go...
No. Last year my wife and I got on a 40-seat bus with 20 passengers. We couldn't sit together because every pair of seats was occupied by a single rider.
One would think here in 2018 that a solution to these issues would have been found. Part of the problem is lack of standards. Get all airlines to be on the same page ie; boarding using the same proceedure, educate the herds (customer, especially first timers that dont have a clue) and staff. And, although not popular, eliminate carryons!

I was friends with a flight attendant who was On a testing project for this boarding method. She said the results were that this WAS a faster method.
But there were MANY complaints and non-compliance issues from people who were traveling together - couples, families with and without kids, friends, etc.
I think that no matter what the airlines do, people are going to complain. It's like car salesman and cable companies - nobody likes them and everybody complains. It's a national hobby.
