I'm assuming it is Pyongyang, but what other big cities are the most mono-ethic or mono-cultural?

In another thread, Edinburgh was mentioned, which would be a good candidate.

I walked off the plane in Edinburgh, cut across the parking lot to the car rental area and a very nice Chinese Scottswoman got us the keys to our station wagon.

Warsaw maybe?

I don't know. Lagos seems to be be pretty ethnically and religiously diverse, though not racially diverse. I'd put money on a major city/cities in China, Japan, or Korea.

Armenia has only 2% minority, Yazidis, clustered outside the capital, so Yerevan appears to be at least 99.5 ethnic Armenians. Certainly no Turks. I did see a pizza shop near my hotel, though.

I think any African city would be out, since every African country includes multiple tribes speaking different languages.

Montevideo probably the purest in South America, or Santiago

This. I think many people look at race alone within African countries/cities and would come to the opposite conclusion, forgetting the many different ethnic groups prevalent within these countries and cities. That said, and upon additional thought, I'd limit such an observation to Sub-Saharan cities as I'd imagine that certain predominately Arab African nations and cities could potentially place high on the list.

Baku, Azerbaijan possibly. There are many Russian people there, but other than that there really are only the Russians who moved there, the native Azerbaijani people, and a very small handful of people from other countries who work in the oil industry.

Maybe Mecca, Saudi. It.s illegal (and enforced) to even visit if not Muslim, and I can't imagine any non-Arab settling there, but there may be some Pakistanis or Egyptians.

Apparently I was wrong about that, Wiki sez " The mixture of different ethnicities and nationalities amongst Meccan residents has significantly impacted Mecca's traditional cuisine. The city has been described as one of the most cosmopolitan Islamic cities, with an international cuisine."
