And out of Savannah afterward?

The only place I have departed where the regular TSA line was quicker than the PreCheck TSA line, but only because there were five or six in the PreCheck and two in the regular line. Very nice little airport, very friendly people.

Also coming back it’s a 737 but going there it’s a Canadair Regional Jet 20 - 50 seat operated by Skywest DBA United express. Do you feel more turbulence on a small plane? I hate take off. Is it scarier in a smaller plane? My friend said she went on one of these from United that was even smaller and the inside seemed really old and part of the window shade near them was coming apart.

CRJ overhead compartments are tiny. You can barely fit a soft laptop bag or small-ish gym bag in it. Even small roll-aboards won't fit. Be aware that with a CRJ and an airport where they don't use jetways, United Express will have a luggage cart by the boarding stairs where you gate check your roll-aboard. When you land, a baggage handler will put all the carry-on bags on a cart at the bottom of the stairs. You often have to wait a few minutes for them to get the bags out of the baggage compartment. Fun in pouring rain or subzero temps. When there is a jetway, you leave your bag at the end of the jetway. On arrival, everybody is milling around the jetway waiting for their carry-on bags.

When I'm flying a CRJ on a short trip, I try to go ultra-light with a canvas bag that will stuff into the tiny overhead compartment. I recall one time where that really helped. The flight took a lengthy mechanical delay and my connection was blown to smithereens. I was able to call reservations and grab a different CRJ flight through another hub. If I had bags checked aboard the plane, that wouldn't have been possible.

Did I mention that I hate the CRJ? Most carriers are phasing them out. The Embraer is much better. A roll-aboard fits in the overhead sideways. It has better seat width. 2-2 seating so no middle death seat. For medium length flights, I'd rather be in an E-190 than a 737.

And yeah, you feel turbulence more on a CRJ than on larger equipment. I learned to fly in 4 seater single engine Skyhawks and Cherokee 180s where you feel everything. It's not like that but you notice turbulence more on climb-out and descent.
