Which currency is recommend to use at the airport? I have a connecting flight...will be stuck at the airport for about 6 hours...will buy drinks and snack.

I would assume one could pay with American debit or credit cards. Just check with the card/s issuer/s if they charge foreign transactions fees and if so how much.

I never had an issue using a credit card. They also will accept local, euro, Ruble, and US dollars, maybe others

They will accept US dollars, no problem. You won't get the best exchange rate, though. But if you're just talking about buying snacks or a meal, it won't make a big difference.


I also used a credit card to purchase an item. No problem there, either.

There is a currency exchange office inside the transit area. Their rates are not as good as you get outside the airport.

If you are using a credit card, then I suggest get one that has no international transaction fee. I think all Capital One credit cards come with this feature and they usually give you a good exchange rate.

I arrived back from Turkey two days ago. This was a 10 days trip and I had no problem using my Capital One credit card, almost everywhere.
