For senior citizens, yes.

But for middle-aged people like me, having a family is more a burden than anything else.

This is like debating whether fish tastes good. It's subjective and pointless to say it tastes better or worse than something else.

It's probably just jealousy. Most people who enjoy travel seem to be jealous of someone else when they are on vacation, especially if the other person has no trip in sight.

I think your second paragraph is the key. Nobody really cares about your travel pictures or stories.
