Just because the speed LIMIT is 75-80 does not mean you have to drive that fast. I recently done 3/4 of that route both ways at 65-70 and was far from the only person driving slower.

The last time I did that I had a flat on the trailer (not a big deal) but the shoulder was so small and steep it was impossible to change, and I off-roaded for fun back then. Had to call a tow truck and he proceeded to tear the tongue off of the trailer. Not a thing I wish to repeat. but with out the trailer - you are right - and the view is far better and picture opportunities are better too ~(:>)

I will just end up being that 'annoying guy with a trailer' on the interstate.

It has been 15 years since I went east on the interstate. Is the speed limit really 75? 80? OMG!

Thanks!

Outside of Pendelton to La Grande there are some steep grades on 84, easily drivable but something to be aware of. Otherwise 84 to 80 is an easy route.

Except OR and WA, it's 75 or 80 in part or all the states on this route.
