We did a 'cruise' to Antarctica a couple years ago, though not your std 'cruise'. But, while it is a bit arduous 'getting there' and back, it was probably a once in a lifetime trip. Highly recommend it if you have the interest.
Summer of '11, we did a 2 month, 13,000 mile Road Trip across the country in our '02 Vette Vert: 35 states, 2 provinces of CDA, an Alaska cruise in the middle, and it was remarkable...I would get in the car this spring and do it again in a NY minute.
As for where to go if no cost or time was an issue: the finest south Pacific diving sites; maybe a couple months worth.

I enjoyed reading this, and as a well traveled person I was fortunate to have visited some of the places mentioned in this thread.
Some of my favorite journeys included:
-- an overland trip from Kathmandu, Nepal to Lhasa, Tibet with 7 other intrepid souls;
-- a round the world voyage on the Queen Elizabeth 2, sailing through both the Panama and Suez canals;
-- a three month "grand tour" of India;
-- three months rambling around Europe on a tight budget with my Mom;
-- exploring Myanmar, Cambodia, and Thailand a few years ago;
-- an auto journey up to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland ...
My next dream vacation - going to places I haven't been yet - would be journey along the ancient "Silk Road" through central Asian countries like Turkmenistan, Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, etc. to see the fabled cities of Almaty, Bokhara, Samarkand.
I also want to visit the "horn" of Africa - Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti.
If I won the lottery, here's what I've been wanting to do:
Take a trans-Atlantic cruise over to England in the springtime. Rent a car, and drive all over the countryside, visiting antique shops, staying in quaint B&B's. Hit some book festivals and book towns. Visit lots of seaside towns. Stay in London for a bit and take in a few shows -- but this time in an old, not-too-big luxury hotel. Then return via another trans-Atlantic cruise with all the treasures I've collected, and arrive safely back home well-rested. And if I could take my dog with me, so much the better!
- Africa (Egypt, Kenya (Serengeti safari, climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar), South Africa, Spain, Brazil, China, Japan, Thailand, Italy, Greece, India, Australia, and Tahiti, Fiji and the Maldives (the major islands of the South Pacific).
