News, Jet Lands With Gaping Hole Torn in Fuselage. (baggage, ticket, safety)

A Qantas jet made an emergency landing in the Philippines early Friday morning after a gaping hole opened in the plane's fuselage following what was described as a large bang onboard. No one was injured and authorities are investigating the cause.

Yeah, it's my fault. If QANTAS was ever going to have an incident that tarnished their safety record it would have to be while I am in receipt of a ticket and planning to fly with them.

It was a freak accident. Something in the baggage dept exploded investigators said,on the news this eve. The evidence shows an outward explosion right next to the wall where baggage was stored.

According to the QANTAS official on the tele here this arvo it's too early for them to speculate what the cause of the accident was but investigations are ongoing.

Looks like an oxygen cylinder failed. Newer bottles are made from aluminum, or stranded Kevlar. Our bottles are filled to about 1800 P.S.I. They would have no trouble ripping through the aluminum skin.
