Call your local congresman and state representative (or email). Sometimes it takes someone w/ some strong arm tactics to get things done. They might also know a little more inside info to get it done.

Can it not be done by mail or something? Is there anything online that would give you the info?

Good luck

State Congressman? She's trying to contact the Italian embassy. They don't have any congressmen in this country.

Embassies are notoriously difficult to deal with through phone or email. You may just have to go there to get any action out of them.

But, they CAN do something. You would be surprised at what they can do when someone needs help.

Does he speak Italian? He needs to contact the Commisariato or the Questura in the town where he was issued his passport.

If you can, just go there. I've never had an Embassy of anywhere call back, and I seldom get through to a person (US Embassies included). Note that August is a slow month in Europe (and among EUropeans); you might have more luck in September!

Here's a list of all Italian consulates in the US http://www.nyu.edu/studyabroad/pdf/Italian.Consulate.List.pdf (broken link)

Try some of them I am sure there will be someone who can help you.
