Hi everyone,

Im just wondering if anyone on here works in the travel industry? I've recently discovered that its what I want to do. I plan on going to college next fall, but I'm having trouble choosing a major & a minor. Or finding a university that has a travel & Tourism program. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get started I'd greatly appreciated it.

What would be an entry level position to get you started and what would one expect to make a year?

I'm actually taking a Travel & Tourism program now through Penn Foster College. It's a distance education program that allows you to become a travel agent and hopefully gain employment in the tourism industry wether it be a travel agent, working for the airlines, hotels, ect.

I already have my degree but just really wanted to study travel (and I admit reap some discounts). I have enjoyed it alot so far! It's really like "fun homework" to me.

If you have any questions, just DM me. Best of luck to you!!

I've been a travel agent for 15 years. I will tell you that it's very hard to get a job and unless you have a substantial size clientele and a good niche, there is very little money in it. If you think you could do it on your own, like out of your house, seek a good host agency. Be careful of MLM's only out to get your money and not in making you a good agent.
