I'm planning on going to Punta Cana in eary May for one of those all inclusive things. Never did one before. I see some for as low as $800 for a week and some much higher then that. Who has been, to which resort and what are some tips/advice.

Thanks,

G Man

Well, we have been looking at Punta Cana for an all-inclusive vacation, too.
We have been on cruises and want to compare the two. It seems that cruises are discounting fares due to the economy but the prices we have seen for Punta Cana inclusives have stayed the same.

I hope you get some replies as to the different resorts. We are thinking of Excellence which is an adult only resort. We have read good reviews!

Happy planning.

Joyce

I'll recommend Paradisus Punta Cana. Stayed there about 3 years back, had a great time and received top notch service and accommodations. What would you like to know?

Jamaica and Turks and Caicos

Where: Jamaica and Turks and Caicos
With its three family-focused properties in Jamaica and one in Turks and Caicos, all-inclusive Beaches caters to everyone in the family. An exclusive deal with Sesame Street means lots of opportunities to eat and play with the kids' favorite furry friends, from dinner with Elmo to staged shows and weekly parades with other Sesame Street characters. Beaches properties also offer Crayola Art camps, water parks (at Beaches Negril and Boscobel in Jamaica, with one coming soon to Beaches Turks and Caicos), water sports, multiple swimming pools (including kids-only pools), kids camps run by certified "ultra nannies," luxury family suites that sleep up to five people (Beaches Boscobel and Turks and Caicos) and a "Rockin' teen disco" (Beaches Boscobel), plus the usual sun, sand, surf and lots of food you expect at a resort.

Rates start at $290 per night, per person, but special promotions can knock the price down.

I am considering the Barcelo Dominican beach as their price is 800 + tax per person for a week. I have heard it is a decent place and this price seems pretty good for an all inclusive. I was leaning towards the Grand Paradise Bavaro which was $100 less but that rate shot up over the weekend, might have missed the boat on that one. Anyways, does anyone know about the Barcelo Dominican Beach?

I've been to Punta Cana on an Apple Vacation All Inclusive deal. Stayed at the Riu Naiboa - it gets one of the lowest rating on Apple - only 3 apples (or stars) but it wasn't bad, especially when you don't plan on spending much time in the hotel anyway. 3 apples they say equals a "comfortable" hotel... the only lower rating is 2 apples, which they describe as "modest". Also, we were allowed to use the pools and bars of the better Riu hotels next door. If you can afford a better hotel, go for it but if you're trying to save money, there's nothing wrong with the lower end hotels, they aren't dumps or unsafe or anything, at least not with Apple Vacations. They are all enclosed in a gated resort area.
