HONG KONG (Reuters Life!) – A Chinese woman who freaked out at Hong Kong's international airport after missing her flight has hit the big time on YouTube after her hysterics were filmed and uploaded to the video sharing website.
The middle-aged woman was seen charging at a security guard at the departure gate, before screaming "aieyyahhhhh," at the top of her lungs in a rant that lasts about three minutes.
HK woman's airport hysterics an online hit (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090216/od_uk_nm/oukoe_uk_youtube_hongkong_flight - broken link)
Well, I hope she's aware that she's on cyberspace now.
Since I started flying decades ago I've always gotten to the airport very early, even before 9-11. You never know when there's traffic problems along the way. And to barely arrive to an airport right on time makes is a dangerous risk if your flight schedule moves up at the last minute.
I just feel bad for her husband at the end of the video. =_= He was being courteous for her and she goes off ranting how he should've gone through the door so they would've made it.
This, being on the net, will hopefully serve as a good lesson towards that lady. >D
I don't think it was a case of her arriving to the airport late as the article says they had already taken her luggage off the plane so she couldn't board. That seems to be telling me she got there in time to check her luggage and have time for it to be loaded on the plane but was then busy either eating or shopping or something else at the airport and just went to the gate really late.
What exactly does one have to do over there to be restrained?
I guess they figured the worst she would do was hit someone with her handbag!! The reaction of the ground staff seems to be pretty typical of the Chinese trait of avoiding conflict at all costs - which can seem quite perplexing to westerners sometimes. It's the face thing...and that woman probably did one of the best face-losing performances I've ever seen!
