AUSTRALIAN airports have been praised and London's Heathrow Airport has been voted the worst international airport in an online survey. New York's JFK and Los Angeles International airports were ranked second and third worst in the survey by travel and social network WAYN.com (Where Are You Now?).

I actually prefer Heathrow to Gatwick, even if it is a bit busier.
I'd have to say JFK is the worst major international airport I've travelled to/through. The best is probably Munich.

I've heard terrible stories about Heathrow as well as CDG in Paris and Frankfurt in Germany, but I've never had problems with any of them in the multiple times I have used them.
A friend of mine had her valuables stolen by a security worker at Heathrow.

I been through and to Heathrow many times and I thought it was great. My worst experience was in Madrid trying to get to Barcelona, mercy, I thought I'd never get out of there and no one was helpful!

I loathe Heathrow but I have to say Gatwick is even worse ... I also hate Frankfurt Airport. The best Airports I have been to was the new Budapest and Vancouver, both very traveller friendly in my opinion. Especially being disabled.
Gatwick and Heathrow are absolute nightmares and always so dirty too. It always seems as though they did not expect anyone to turn up...

I dislike terminal at H'row that takes domestic and European flights, but have found T4 fine- not been to T5 yet.
I've generally been lucky with Gatwick and recently got through check in and security in ten minutes tops.
The eateries there are pretty dire though.

Frankfurt Airport is a dump. What a surprise to find such a miserably inadequate airport in, of all places ... Germany. I was expecting something far better for such a country. Not nearly enough places to sit while you wait for your connection. We got there after a long flight from the best airport - Changi, in Singapore - and walked around forever to look for some place to sit. The cafe is a full of smokers, so we chose a departure lounge where we got kicked out 20 minutes later. So we found another one. Kicked out after 15. And so on. For 4 hours. Terrible place.
Hong Kong was sterile and boring. Clean as a whistle though. Just sterile.
Heathrow is a nightmare but it has so many people going through it, so I don't know what they could do to minimise the misery there.
The survey says Australian airports were praised - I guess they haven't been to Perth's. A joke. Embarrassing. I cringe when I pick up friends and family there. Hate Sydney. Having to go through that rigamarole to get from domestic to international. This time, on our way to LAX, we're going via Brisbane, just to avoid that crap in Sydney.

I was just about to have a crack at our Airport, but you beat me to it!
Even Adelaide's beats ours hands down...With all that development it's only a matter of time they upgrade it. A train to the airport should also be next.
