I think I agree but even if I'm bummed when I get back home and wish that where I live was more like the place I had just visited, the trip was still worth it in my book. Otherwise, I would be stuck at home yearning to go to wherever it is I wanted to go. I love to travel and will continue to travel because the world has so much to offer and see. I wouldn't want to restrict myself to one little section of the world when there is so much more out there to experience.

Reading is just another form of travel. Once you open up a book, and immediately, you're on a voyage, except you don't need a passport or visa.
Sometimes, when I've read a really good book, I can go through the same depression after taking a good trip. Immediately, in a panic, I desperately try and find a book equally as enjoyable and memorable. Same with traveling. Can all make you very wise, but at the same time.................

I think the happy memories of a great travel experience greatly outweigh any unhappiness it causes upon your return. I would guess Thomas Jefferson said this while staying in France while away from all his friends/family for years but I have no idea. I find that traveling, while it does make you occasionally homesick, gives you a better appreciation once you are home. But it can also lead to wanderlust...
