If you are traveling to or through PHX expect delays for the next 3 weeks. My flight to Phx has been delayed 2.5 hrs and counting today. It has to do with runway construction. May want to consider an alternate route if possible. Or at least double check the departure times befor leaving for the airport. Air traffic has been cut around 40% per hour.
I guess I got lucky today. Was 20 minutes late arriving into Phoenix and departed Phoenix on time. Good thing my connecting flight was at a gate less than 100 feet from my arriving gate.
Took a friend to Sky Harbor Airport today for a flight to Oklahoma. He was on board and out of there in about 35 minutes.
Airport construction has been going on for at last 2 years and there has been relatively few delays. Most delays are weather related.
I wonder why they don't use that third runway on the South side temporarily, I've seen it and assumed it was mainly for either smaller planes or Air Natl Guard. It is shorter than the main two but still looks big enough to land 737s etc. on.
I ended up having 10 minutes to get from gate A4 to A19. That doesn't sound bad until you realize the way the airport is laid out:-). Anyway, my departing flight left on time.....if you consider leaving the gate as on time. We were wheels up about 20 minutes later. There were a lot of people at the customer service desk trying to get flights rearranged. Other travelers I spoke with had their flights rescheduled beforehand . It might have just been a bad day overall, but if I can, I'll avoid Phoenix for the next couple of weeks.
