Well I just saw this.

12 week wait for passports and 4 weeks to expedite. YIKES!

Renewing a passport can take up to 12 weeks at the moment. PLANO - Passport offices are jammed and travelers are being told processing could take as long as ten to 12 weeks.

I renewed and paid the extra fee to expedite it. I couldn't believe it, but I got it 2 weeks to the day that I mailed it.

I just sent my kids' in for expedited service. They told me it's 2 weeks if it needs to be. IN other words, if you are traveling within 3 weeks of sending in the expedited application, they will get it back to you in 2 weeks. If you are travelling in 2 months and send in for expedited, they will take up to 4 weeks to get it to you.

I didn't need mine until July and I sent for my renewal in April. It might depend on where the passport is being processed. If that is a concern, ask at the post office.

I think the passport delay is now 13 weeks. If you are waiting on your passport and you have a trip coming up soon (within a week or so), you can phone your congressman. They should track down your passport and get it to you in time for your trip.
