How's the best / not too expensive way to get from Tokyo to Hiroshima?

Flights are already booked to Tokyo (via FF miles). A flight from Tokyo to Hiroshima looks to be about $700USD. Are there any smaller, domestic airlines I should check out? Is there a train that goes there? Any other options?

Dates: Arrive on Dec. 22nd and return on Jan. 1st. Thanks!

Hello!
I was to Japan last Summer and...WOW... I love this place!!!

I have seen Tokyo, Hiroshima and other places.
The best manner to go to Hiroshima, for me, it has been the train.
You can take and use the Japan Rail Pass.

Do you know it? JAPAN RAIL PASS

Here the simulation hours Enter the station name

If you visit Hiroshima, I also recommend you take the ferry over to the island of Miyajima. If you go at high tide, the incredible temple appears to float on the water. It also has a huge torii gate out in the water and numerous other sights.
Hiroshima Peace Park and museum is amazing. If anyone thinks we should just bomb a country, they need to see this first.
A rail pass is great-leave your luggage at the lockers at the train station and travel wherever you want to go. Remember, it must be purchased BEFORE you leave the US!

About Hiroshima, Hiroshima Peace Park and museum is very important.

yes, Miyajima is a fantastic place!

Other important place near Hiroshima, is the Fushimi Inari !

firebll31 is right! JRP must be purchased BEFORE you leave the US!

Thanks for all the tips! I checked out the Rail Pass, it seems to be around $400-$680 for a 14-day period, depending on the type I get? Does that seem right? It seems kinda expensive, but definitely a good idea. Also, what are the differences between the two types they offer, The Green and The Ordinary?

Thanks!

Green is first class and the other one is regular class.

USD 700?? Are you crazy? There's no way that's right. Try Я³ÌÂÃÐÐÍø: ¾ÆµêÔ¤¶©, »úƱԤ¶©, ÂÃÓζȼÙ, ÉÌÂùÜÀí or Cheap Hotels - Search for Hotel Reservations, Deals & Rooms - Wego.com. Better yet, try ANA or JAL's websites. It ought to cost less than USD 200.

The train is always a pleasant option in Japan. I haven't traveled that route, but I am 100% certain there are trains connecting Tokyo and Hiroshima.

Tokyo to Hiroshima OW on sidestep.com came to $184 on JAL for sometime in Nov. and $288 for Dec 22 week (holiday season I guess), how are you getting the $700 figure? Make sure you are selecting Haneda airport (HND) because that is the domestic terminal for Tokyo.

The amount I posted above are for the Japan Rail Pass, not a flight.

Click HERE to see what I'm talking about...I'm looking at the 14-day pass. When I do the conversion, it comes out to around $400USD for a 14-day pass with the Ordinary, about $680USD for a 14-day pass with the Green.
