we had to check in early in miami but our room would not be ready to much later .marriott gave us a key to the spa floor and let us shower and change clothes .
It's up to the hotel, and sometimes up to the desk clerk. If there was not full occupancy the night before, they wouldl have some rooms already made up and available. Hotels can be as nice or as bitchy as they choose to be.
I've had better success checking in early at overseas hotel than compared to U.S. hotels. And by early I mean a few hours early (noon before 2 pm check in).
It all depends on availability and other factors of course.
I've checked into hotels as early as 9 or 10 a.m. a few times. If it's empty and clean, they'll usually let you check right in.
It depends on the hotel, some have a very strict policy. They may let you check in early but they will charge you for an extra fee or a full extra day.
I don’t expect them to but usually, when I’ve asked, they have agreed. I have also asked them to store my luggage in a safe room if I can’t check in early and they will do that for the few hours until I can check in.
