1. My license is expired. Since its also suspended for another month, i'm just going to wait and get it reinstated then instead of getting it renewed now and then reinstated again in a month. So my question is, can you check in and get through security with an expired license or will they not accept that?
2. Regaurdless of the answer to # 1, can you use a Passport to get through security and check in even if its just a domestic flight?
There was just a post about this last week. You will not be able to board if they notice your license is expired (notice is the key word, but who wants to gamble on such a thing?). Passport is of course fine (probably preferable by the TSA since it's in a standard format) to get on your flight. There are other methods as well...refer to previous post, I'm too lazy to look for it, gave lots of detail.
If you have a valid passport they don't even look at your driver's license. I wear mine with my boarding pass in one of those nerdpacks that hang around your neck for easy access. Yes, I look dumb but at least I'm not fumbling around for documents.
I carry the Passport card for travel. There are so many different licnese with information in so many different places, but a Passport or Passport card is the same. I have never had any issue anywhere showing the Passport or Card when used for identification purposes. In fact, unless they need a drivers license for driving authorization, I never use my DL for identification.
