You know...the islands you see on screen savers... :-)
3 or 4 palm trees, clear blue water all around, sugar white sand beach, and nothing else around.

My fiance's bucket list includes spending a day on such an island. Is there one such island near a caribbean island that you could make a day trip out of?

There are few little islands like that off the coast of Louisiana, but there won't be any palm trees. In fact, there won't be much at all!

There are several off the coast of Belize, eg; Lighthouse Reef. Some are even for sale!

I started browsing Best Secret Islands on Earth - Articles - Travel + Leisure and couldn't believe how expensive staying on these tiny paradise islands is , the Caribbean is expecially expensive with 300 $/night hotels (who can afford that? or maybe one night, but is it worth going that far for only a night?), the winner being of course the "two cocos villa" in Muaritius for 2,450 bucks a night, who can afford that apart from very rich people?

LOL
When you read "Doubles start at $200" you know these islands are not exactly "secret."
I've been to only one of them in that article, and it was very nice, but definitely for people with money (who want to act like they don't have any money).

Yes.
They're around. Some are privately owned, some are not.
Saw some interesting ones in the British Virgin Islands.
All it takes is transportation.

If you can travel a bit further afield, try Vanuatu in the South Pacific. It has a large number of tiny uninhabited islands that are easy to reach from the capital, Port Vila. Check out Eratap Resort... they provide complementary motor boats that you can use to travel to an uninhabited island for the day. Not sure how expensive that resort is though. Other, cheaper, resorts are plentiful in and around Port Vila... though they may charge for the hire of the boat. Most resorts will also provide you with the fixings for an island picnic!

Here's one thats not quite as pretty as the one the OP had in mind but its tropical and it should be free. It's also got a little bit of beach. I took this picture flying along the southern coast of Florida. The island is probably, technically, part of the Everglades National Park. You can get a sense of scale by looking at the small powerboat between the plane and the island. The other things that look like islands in the picture are just shadows of the clouds.
