^gman, I'll be in Punta Cana in March (EdenH) and I keep hearing great things about the beach there.

I love the Stretch of the Cape Cod National Seashore between Cahoon Hollow Beach and Marconi Station (Beachcomber serves up EXCELLENT drinks):

Playa Carrizalillo in Puerto Escondido is gorgeous. Lovely little palapas line the beach with really amazing seafood and drinks (like coco natural which we filled with the rum and Malibu we brought with us). The water is really clear and the sand is perfect. It's a great place to body surf, though the waves aren't too big.

The only problem is it's down 167 steps (we counted). Not bad going down, but after 8 hours relaxing by the ocean, eating, drinking, and swimming, it's hell going back up. I was there in early November where everything was green and gorgeous. Plus, all the tourists were in Oaxaca City for Dia de los Muertos so it was really calm.

St. John (St. Thomas) USVI---beautiful, clear and warm!
Here in the states, it's either Myrtle Beach or Sarasota!

I've seen some beautiful beaches, especially in the British Virgin Islands, as well as Hawaii, Croatia and Greece. The Central Coast of California has incredible vistas, but the water is awfully cold.
I think my favorite beach is where I am living right now: Amelia Island, Florida.

But we spent almost two years on the Gulf, in northwest Florida, and those beaches were really something, too--especially if you like to have it all to yourself.

lrfox - those pictures almost made me jump out of my seat - i went to Cape Cod last year, mostly for Cape Cod League baseball games but i stayed at Paine's Campground in South Wellfleet. Closest beach was Cahoon Hallow so thats were we went and parked and ate at the Beachcomber. I remember the huge dunes and the large hill to get down. In fact i ran down the beach and climbed one of the dunes. Great times, nice pics!!
