Amazing that I was thinking of the same but what we really need is more funky restaurants and bars from chefs and artists.

I agree with you, but, it seems like what the Tri really does love, as a group, is a chain.

Go figure.

Sub Factory, IMHO easily the best sandwich shop in the north part of Richland, recently went out of business. Meanwhile, across the street, Subway marches on. And how many Micky D's thrive, putting out McGrease horrible food - but it's cheap, and it's fast...

One restaurant that I would have said, yeah, I wish they would come, but two years ago I would not have held out any real hope that they ever would, has actually come here - Original Pancake House. This is a national chain, but very sparse coverage, about 150 locations nationwide. I used to frequent one in Brookhaven, a suburb of Atlanta, close to where I went to college. I have not tried the one that has opened in Kennewick, but the one in Brookhaven was reliably good, with huge omelettes, great coffee with real cream to put in it. Yelp reviews are mixed. Prices are rather high for breakfast, but, at least the one I tried, you actually got your money's worth in terms of portion size and quality.

Poking around on the web, apparently one will open soon in Richland as well, on Keene next to Yokes. Apparently it will open soon, maybe even this month.

You could have won some bet money off me, first for the Kennewick location, and won again that there would be a second Tri-City location.

At the same time, if they had tried to pick out locations that I would find quite inconvenient to get to, well, they succeeded very well. I am not much on driving lengthwise through Richland and half of Kennewick to get to a meal.
