Hi, my family and I are planning on moving to Walls Walls in a couple of months and I was wondering about elementary school as well as good neighborhoods to raise a family. I have a child with special needs and am looking for a school that has a really good special education program. And that is small and has a family like feel. The school that he goes to now is what I call a little house on the prairie type lol. He's been going there since kindergarten and is now 12. I'm hoping to find a school that is as welcoming and comfortable at the one here in Montana. Plus I don't know anything about the neighborhoods so I need help finding a great family friendly neighborhood. I also need help find a nice place to live. Are there any good rental agencies or any know of anything coming available that is pet friendly with a nice size yard for kids to play. Please any input would be extremely helpful. Thanks

Since your child is 12 years old he is likely in middle school and I would recommend Pioneer Middle School because it's a nicer school, the areas I recommend living in Walla Walla are South Walla Walla (areas south of Tietan Street), Central Walla Walla (areas east of 2nd Avenue and south of Poplar/Alder) and East Walla Walla (except for the apartment complexes on Wilbur Avenue in between Isaacs and Alder).

Spend some time on finding good schools.

Walla Walla has some decent schools, but Washington state schools are far, far behind Montana in the quality of public education.

The education he got in Montana is likely to be frittered away in Washington over the years.

Thank you all for your feed back... we have decided to leave my 12 year old here to so he can finish out the year. I do have an 8, a 3 year old as well that will be coming. Any suggestions for a good elementary school. My youngest just stared Head Start here and she loves it. Here in Montana the preschools and elementary are separated and the preschools usually has a tuition. I didn't grow up in a school system like the, the pre and elementary were combined. How is it there? I do know that it is on Portland Ave. I don't know where that is on the map of Walla Walla.
