During the past 2 years of me living in the Tri-Cities I've had 2 bikes stolen while locked up outside, once was from work and another was from home, the second bike I've had stolen had a $65 bike lock that someone managed to cut off with a pair of bolt cutters, I don't get why there are so many bike thieves around the Tri-Cities area.

Well, where were the bikes when they were stolen? Richland? I'd be surprised. East Pasco? I'd be surprised if you would even try leaving anything of value not guarded.

I've noted in my move back to the Tri in 2015 that crime has increased, but definitely on the amateur side. Mostly low-grade type attempted burglaries. My condo was hit recently with unlocked cars being hit by "trunk poppers", in other words, these kids (and I believe they are just kids), are looking for unlocked cars and popping the trunks looking for valuables. They apparently have no desire to steal vehicles, just looking for valuables. Again, probably kids. RPD responded nicely.

West Kennewick near the Mercedes Benz dealership, I did have my bike locked up with a $65 bike lock as well while it was locked outside of my apartment, I now keep my bike inside my bedroom.

I only lived in the Tri-Cities for 2 years and we've had that happened twice, thankfully they didn't find anything in our vehicles and I'm so glad they didn't drive off in our vehicle, oddly it happened during the rare times we've forgotten to lock our vehicle doors, the police were called both times, they did capture the thieves the first time but the second time we didn't even realize until hours later and they've gotten away.
