Saw on the morning local news that the 6 story office building on Jadwin, pretty close to where Williams intersects, has been bought by a new owner who intends to make it into apartments.

So, we will have a 6-story apartment building in Richland if the plan works.

Apparently no businesses really want to be in that 1970's building. Though its twin just south seems to still have a lot of businesses. I am not sure I would want to live in such a corporate looking building, and I wonder if these are to be luxury or low-income units. To make them luxury would involve extensive reconstruction.

I rather like that building, I particularly like the covered parking. I want to say for a long time some businesses related to Hanford cleanup were in there.

For me, working in engineering, I don't particularly care about an "in-style" or "updated" building to work in, give me the cheapest thing you can find that has some windows, decent HVAC, if I don't like the lighting I can provide my own auxiliary lighting.

No idea if they plan to make the apartments upscale or downscale. I'll just say that the "Wall-Mart Effect" is a real thing - give people a good deal on something, and they will buy a lot of it. But if you go with a really low price point, you will collect what little riff-raff Richland has.
