Yeah, I do remember Price Chopper near the "moonscape" apartments up the hill from the Mall. It was a good store, good prices, and while I was there in '91, bought a lot of my groceries there.

Buttrey-Osco was pretty big in Idaho too, I liked how at least the Idaho stores carried hunting and fishing supplies.

I also remember a Price Chopper located on Symons Blvd in between Jadwin & G-Way and me and my family walking there almost everyday, God I miss that grocery store

Both before my time. But when I moved here, there was a grocery store where Value Village is now on CC Blvd. Handy for us because we lived up the street at Crosspointe, before we finally realized how stupid it was of us to rent a 3-bedroom apartment for the price of a house payment.

Those were both the stores my family shopped at when I was a kid. Price Chopper in Pasco on Court St. and Buttreys in Kennewick. I really liked the Food Pavillion store in Pasco. Was really sad to see them go. No way I will shop at Albertsons in Pasco. It's outdated and gross. Yokes is expensive. Fiesta has great deals when I am cooking Mexican dishes but its always so crowded.

Why did Food Pavillion go out of business? Were they locally owned? I do NOT like Albertson's at all and I rarely ever shop there, especially the one in Pasco.

Food Pavillion as a company is not out of business, there is one (Food Depot, same company) in Prosser. They have been having a hard time apparently though.

I used to really like the European/Russian foods selection there at Food Pavillion in Richland, they seemed to be doing a pretty good business.

To look at the map, they are mostly concentrated in the Seattle area, previously had several around Tri-Cities but apparently they didn't work out.

Price Chopper was out by the mall, and is no longer even a grocery I don't think. I remember Waremart as the discount chain in Kennwick over between Ken. Ave and Clearwater, (kind of seedy, but low prices), then moved into a new location on Clearwater and renamed as part of the Winco chain. Didn't Buttrey's become Albertsons? When I did my time in the the Tri-Cities in the 90's that is what I remember. Wal-Mart was just coming in, and had limited groceries at the time. Few shopped for groceries at Wal-Mart then. I assume it now a super-Wal-Mart with a complete grocery. Back then, I preferred Safeway on Ken. Ave.
