Nancy Grace featured this story for a while--maybe last fall?

There are so many, too many young women that will never be found I fear.

It's in the news more often here, since she disappeared from the Malibu area. This article was in the newspaper yesterday:
Missing woman's mother sues Los Angeles County and Sheriff's Department - latimes.com

One of the reason of the difference of treatment is their surnames : Natalee is very common, but Mitrice ? never heard of such a surname, seems to me Black community slang .

I disagree. A teenager missing from a (supposedly supervised) high school graduation trip is probably going to cause more alarm--and thus media coverage--than an adult woman who is missing. Sad but true.

Surname - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Someone gave a well-reasoned explanation or theory in a previous post. The Holloway's had some connections within the media.

The new lead in the case reportedly came from a former friend of Richardson who contacted police and told them he had seen her inside the lounge of the Rio Las Vegas Hotel and Casino last month. The man said he attempted to speak with Richardson, but she ignored him, Rhonda Hampton, a close family friend, told CNN.

He didn't realize she was still missing until he spoke with one of her family members a few weeks later.

this and cases like these are so sad and I know that there are thousands out there missing or feared dead by their families and these familys need closure . All these womens familys need closure be it black , white , hispanic, asian . race and color should not matter when investigating . Lets just get closure for these familys . I feel for any family who has a missing loved one .

A Black community slang? What? Don't you think that's a bit ignorant? Her surname was Richardson...I wouldn't call that 'black slang'.

You do realise surname is your last name.
