I'm surprised more posters don't predict she will get the death penalty.
I think she'll wind up with the death penalty. I really didn't see much going on at the trial that would mitigate against it, IMO. Difficult to predict what the jury will be thinking, though. It's more female jurors than male, correct? Does that mean that they will lean more in favour of LWOP? (According to the conventional wisdom, at least?)...
The "aggravating circumstances" that the jury could consider based on the legislation could be:
(h) The capital felony was especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel.
(i) The capital felony was a homicide and was committed in a cold, calculated, and premeditated manner without any pretense of moral or legal justification.
(l) The victim of the capital felony was a person less than 12 years of age.
(m) The victim of the capital felony was particularly vulnerable due to advanced age or disability, or because the defendant stood in a position of familial or custodial authority over the victim.
The "mitigating factors" listed in the legislation don't apply. So, I think the jury would seriously weight the death penalty in this case for sure. We will see.
Predictions anyone? (just for the guilt phase, not sentencing phase).
I'm going with 3 hours jury deliberations, return guilty on all counts. Casey shows little emotion except for a cold stare directly at Cindy and George. Cindy loses it bawling her lying head off, George consoles her w/o acknowledging Casey's reaction.
They swiftly exit the courthouse parking lot decline any media interviews amongst the jeering and insults. A couple extra Xanaxs or whatever meds they're on and early next week they waste no time in raking in the cash from their disgusting daughter's crimes.
Nothing wrong with being pragmatic. Their daughter will be in prison, they need money to live, I see nothing wrong with them cashing in. As a matter of fact, more power to them if they can do a round of shows, with the stress that they went through.
Let them cash in, it won't change the fact that their Caylee is dead. The money will be a hollow consolation.
I agree, quick verdict, if they all agree on guilt, but split on pre-meditation, they will probably call that a wash. I personally would go with pre-meditation. But everyone wants to be with their family on Monday.
Casey is going down. I think she seriously thought she would be aquitted! Like, "okay, it is all over, let's go for pizza".
I have a question, even though Padilla withdrew his bail, why has Casey been in jail all this time? Was she offerred bail? Did her parents just not put up their home?
Personally I think Casey od'd her daughter on xanax, I have always thought this ever since the Zanny the nanny lie.. Zanny is a street name for the seditive xanax.
I have always thought she gave the kid this drug to keep her quiet or to make her sleep for hours so she could party.
Chloroform is another option of course but the zanny just fits with the lie..
I dont think she will get death although many are all for it.
If for some god forsaken reason she is not found guilty, someone will murder her.
The only proof they have is Casey searching for chloroform. They have no cause of death. Even though Casey was seearching for breaking necks, Caylee's neck was not broke
Ha we shall see. I cannot see her being convicted to first degree murder. Voluntary manslaughter? Reckless Endangerment?
I believe she is totally guilty but there is no proof. Sadly I feel we will never know what really happened to poor Cayley

I agree. But friggin why?? She had her mother to watch her! But I guess she did not want her mother to think she was not being a good mother.
That is prob why she lied to her parents about having a job and not just a worthless, irresponsible, noncaring mother

Funny. When this story FIRST came out, my daughter who was 19 at the time, said the very same thing. The younger folks picked up on that immediately. I think that is why her younger age support in Orlando is absolutely ZERO!
Most of the people who picketed her house yelling 'baby killer' while she was out on bail were younger people/parents....many single parents.
The whole family has many mental problem's,Cindy an enabler and part of Casey never developed.
I don't know DanBev.....many moms are enablers. We always want to believe the best in our kids, even when life shows otherwise. I've been guilty for this on many many occasions. And I do also think, that if thrown in a media spot light, most of us have families who would look a little nutsy to the rest of the world. Each family has their own whacky dynamics.
So far, no one has said "not guilty". She is going down.
