In early translations, e.g. KJV, Matthew 19:12 reads, ""For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive, let him receive." But some wimpy translations replace "making yourself a eunuch" with "being celibate."
In fact, the whole doctrine of celibacy for priests in Catholic church is based on Matthew 19:12. But the church had to water it down, it was too hard to get priests cut off their penises, I guess?
