I've heard that a group of teens tend to take on a "pack mentality," that together, they feed off each others violence and find themselves capable of doing things they would never do alone. I wonder if that was the situation in this case.
The fact that there was a stepfather that took part in this craziness speaks as to how at least one teenager was being raised. At least there was one who told the truth, and one parent who had enough of a moral compass to tell the police.
Hopefully, none of these kids ever see the streets again. Anyone capable of that kind of horror does not belong in society.
