Horrible news! To read the news where Josh made statements about how much he loved his boys, how he was the best person for them to be with, how he would never do anything to hurt his kids, how he was a great father and an excellent husband ... and then to read that he cornered the boys in a room and attacked them with a hatchet before igniting the explosion, is just sickening! Now the creepy Powell dad is on suicide watch. Let him kill himself! He and his rotten son were/are the lowest forms of trash.

Statistically tho, he fit the profile of an obssessive abuser who murders his partner. Personally, I never believed a word about who he professed to be, typical of the delusional.

I watch The Today Show on-line and I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the segment with the grandparents. As a mother (and a grandmother), I'm just not sure that I could bear watching their grief.

I know that and I agree.
But there are still a lot of unanswered questions - like, where is Susan? I'm sure her parents would love to get her back so they could put some closure on that part of the tragedy.
Lots of other details, too, that we will probably never get the answers for - unless the perv father knows and I'm not sure we could believe anything he says anyway.
Socially, our definitions of abusive/ non abusive parents is extremely weak. That's where I see our greatest shortcoming is happening.
If by "extremely weak" you mean "not adequately defined" I agree 100%. If you mean we don't consider enough things child abuse, I disagree 100%. On the contrary, we've gone completely off the rails, calling everything abuse or at least some sort of predictive factor for abuse.

The older son drew a picture and mentioned that his "Mommy" was in the trunk of their car. He also said she was "in the mines".He drew a picture supposedly of the mom in the trunk of their car. OMG, I cannot imagine them having to see what he did to their own mother. More and more was coming out with the boys remembering things. He knew his days were numbered with the boys starting to remember things. So terribly heartwrenching.
What a terrible case....Josh knew his kids were beginning to talk so I believe that's why he killed them-and the hatchet? Well that just shows he "hated" his children-some people are pure hate-I believe Susan was going to leave him..reason? Well we can speculate but I'm sure she saw what a freak he was....sometimes you just can't explain evil..

If he takes his own life it wont be out of despair over his sons death.
Perhaps the pedophile is mourning the loss of his 2 grandsons he'll never be able to victimize.
OMG...what a monster!? How on earth the justice system and CPS could ever make such horrendous mistakes is beyond me. Maybe this sounds vindictive....I don't care. If I were Susan's parents, I wouldn't rest until people's heads were on the chopping block. First of all, their daughter is killed by a controlling, manipulative monster. THEN some friggin' judge decides that he should be allowed to have his children.....UNTIL their grandfather is found to have child porn and evidence of voyeurism on his computer...in the same HOME where those poor kids were living. Finally, some judge and social service workers deem that it's appropriate to put those little boys AND a social worker in danger, by allowing IN-HOME visits with those children. This whole situation is sick and disgusting beyond belief!! The monster hacks his children with a HATCHET before burning them alive!!?? Great decisions made by the "justice system".
Like I said, if I was Susan's parents and those boys' grandparent, I would not rest until justice was served and someone paid for their incredible stupidity! Fools allowed this to happen! Fools who should have known better! If I was the social worker, I could never do this job again. This woman is going to be scarred for life. I would never, ever be able to do another in-home visit if I were her.
