Interesting, "you are fired for waking up next to a dead guy with a dog collar around his neck"...Okay, where is that in the employee handbook?
He resigned ... probably with lots of pressure ... when I saw KARP ... I thought of the old TV show WKRP.
The TV station apparently wanted to separate themselves from a weatherman in a hot tub empty no less, with a dead guy with a dog collar around his neck.
I would think that the smartest thing this guy could do at this point, is check into a program for substance abusers, he needs to get his life in order. This is sort of like that Micheal Keaton Movie, "Clean and Sober", he woke up next to a dead woman in the movie, and decided to check himself into a program. It put the police on the back burner, and he got straight.

Why does a city in Arkansas have a station that begins with a KKARK? I thought that those were just west of The Rockies (or is it The Mississippi?) , except for KDKA in Pittsburgh.

East of Mississippi River = W
West of Mississippi River = K
Of course there are exceptions ... those that have been grandfathered in when the FCC went over to the 'which side of the river are on system.'
