No one I know is really that invested in it, and many white people are split on the subject (just like Casey Anthony) - It's kind of silly for him to presuppose that any white person who thinks she's innocent thinks that because she's white and has blue eyes.
It says a bit more about A_Lexus' views on race than it does anyone else's. Especially since his posts strongly suggest that the Italians based their decision on her race... It was a white chick killing another white chick - what does race have to do with any of this?
It's in the news because it happened in Italy, not in Washington, and not because she's white. It's sad some people are so obsessed with race that they have to turn everything into a race issue.
I agree it does say a lot. When someone is more fixated on the suspect's race than the facts and evidence in the case, that says a lot about who the real prejudiced ones are.

It was in the news because she is a pretty (American) white woman in Italy possibly involved in some sorf of love triangle thing. If it were a Chinese exchange student we wouldnt even know about this.
Blacks can be excused however, given the shameful history of injustice that has been levied against them and the lack of consideration they are given in all matters.
So, if your "people" have been wronged it's ok to be racist.
What's the statute of limitations on that one? Can I be racist to someone that just moved here from Nigeria or do they get the retroactive pass for just having the right skin tone?
So, someone that survived the killing fields of cambodia can be racist to blacks (it's ok) in Cambodia.....but not in the US?
By that logic, if I go to England where my ancestors fled for religious reasons I have more history of oppression there than a black whose ancestors were slaves but only in the US. So in England I'm the oppressed minority and I can't be racist but a black could be.
I don't think you've thought out your whole "when it's OK to be a racist" philosophy. Personally, I am going to stick with the whole "treat everyone fairly" philosophy and not tolerate any form of discrimination.

Amanda reminds me a LOT of one of my college roommates from my freshman year. She 'looked' like a nice, innocent average young White girl but was a major tramp with a constant stream of random guys always sleeping over, she started using hard drugs and drinking like a fish, started stealing money and jewelry from us (there were 4 of us in the apartment) to feed her habit and then tried to blame me (the only Black girl) for stealing. Thankfully her parents yanked her out of school and stuck her in rehab.
I think that more than anything, I am tired of the Amandas of the world being celebrated and worshipped for their less than stellar (if not, immoral) behavior. I mean people are making a bigger fuss over Amanda then those two American students who were freed from Iran. Now that is something worthy of celebration

Well, yes, that's my whole point - we care because it's an American - one of us - on trial in a foreign country.
I never saw evidence that she had a history of mental illness, drug or alcohol problems, promiscuity,arrests, nothing. And, having sex w/ a boyfriend, well, if that's the only thing they had to defame her. People don't just "turn crazy" without some history or evidence of imbalance prior.

Actually, I think most people just find the story salacious. American culture likes to watch crap and trainwrecks which is why we have Jerry Springer, Jersey Shore and other trash shows with crap people on them.
Heck, which skank will be next to "accidentally" leak a sex tape (aka do porn) to try to make their breakout move?
