The attorney blames it on a mixture of Adderall and alcohol...I believe the jury will find it to be an excuse but not a defense.

A neuropathologist testified today that Love suffered brain trauma when Huguely slammed her head against a wall. She said the injury was severe enough to cause Love to lose motor functions before dying up to two hours later.
Had Love survived the brain injuries, she could have been left in a vegetative state, said Fuller, who analyzed Love's dissected brain. Love's head jolted and then came to a sudden halt, causing her brain to smash into the inner wall of her skull, Dr. Fuller said.
I don't think they can blame alcohol or Adderall for the brain trauma. That takes a hard whack on the head to cause your brain to smash into the inner wall of the skull.
Of course Huguely's defense team will bring in expert witnesses to refute Dr. Fuller's testimony.

It's interesting to see this case is at trial now. There is a book about it that came out in 2011. From the reviews, it seems that both sets of parents refused to participate so the book has little information. I hate cash in books. They should wait until the trial is over to write these books so they can at least get access to transcripts and quotes from people involved in the case.

According to local news out of Charlottesville, there was some "improper e-mailing" between the defense attorneys and some of the defense witnesses.
Surely the attorney knew better, so I'm wondering if this was done deliberately, perhaps establishing grounds for an appeal should the verdict not be what they're looking for?
Also, is it common for there to be several days between the end of the trial and the start of jury deliberations? Seems to me you'd want the jury to start working right away, while testimony is still fresh in their minds .....

Found Guilty of Second Degree Murder: 5-40 years
Found Guilty of Grand Larceny 1-20 years
Not Guilty of all other charges
Jury deliberates the sentence (I think)

Thank goodness this jury is helping restore my faith in the system. They did throw out the death penalty and looked at lesser charges which is what any normal jury should do ... not like the Casey & OJ juries. This jury was not sequestered.
His defense team did the same thing for him as Baez did for Casey ... sitting in a chair that was lowered, his clothes hung off of him so he appeared like a young boy sitting there in front of the jury. The jury was off Saturday, Sunday and Monday (President's Day.) Three days and of course advised not to discuss the case.
It goes into the sentencing phase now but the judge makes the final decision no matter what the jury decides. A sad case both of them so young and talented and their whole life was ahead of them. He could walk with time served depending on the what the judge decides or walk in five years and she is gone forever.
