Why is the trial of "Whitey" Bulger not getting any attention on this forum? Is it because murder and corruption aren't as interesting when race or sex isn't involved?

The FEDS could have done something about Bulger long ago. He is 83 years old if convicted he will die in prison. He is evil. In testimony in one event he murdered two people, then took a nap as his men cleaned up the mess. Of course he wants to testify.

I am curious about the death yesterday of Stephen "Stippo" Rakes. In 1984 Bulger forced Rakes to sell his liquor store at a cut-rate price so Bulger's mob could use the store as a front.

I am curious about it, too, because in my mind any motive for killing Mr. Rakes was weak. He was not a "star witness" for the prosecution.

I haven't heard further about Mr. Rakes death. But unless he had a massive coronary or stroke at 59 years old, I just find his sudden death suspicious. He didn't witness murders or beatings. He was just extorted out of his liquor store and wanted to get that out of his system.

I can't wait for the results from the autopsy to come back. It DOES make for interesting Irish mob story, doesn't it?
