I don't know how the world can bring the Afghan mindset out of the 12th century but if must be done by whatever means necessary.
In the civilized world 14 yrs old is to young to marry. Not so in the backwards ways of the 12th century morons that populate the hills and plains of Afghanistan.
"A 14-year-old Afghan girl was beheaded and killed in an attack by two men, one of whom apparently asked her to marry him."
It is my firm opinion that any/all members of the western military in Afghanistan be issued standing orders to execute with extreme prejudice immediately any Afghan male who is either harming , or threatening to ,harm any Afghan woman for any reason that goes against her will. This isn't a case of western culture against Afghan culture. It's about what is acceptable as human beings.
Now I know it will never happen but I feel better saying it since getting the word out is the first step to change anything.
Grandpa, I agree with you 100%, but I would take it one step further. I'd arm the Afghan women, have them watch a couple of Dirty Harry movies and teach them how to say "Go ahead, punk, make my day" in Pashtun.
Thank you for caring about the plight of the women there. The world turned a blind eye to it for a long time.

If we , as humans, don't care about the least among us then what does that say about our humanity as a whole??
