I hope the law deals harshly with them but in the end it is the parents who will have to hire attorneys etc. How incredibly stupid at age 15 not to realize how dangerous this could have been. if it was my kid I would take away their computer like forever.

I think the parents have only themselves to blame, and I couldn't imagine EVER turning my child into the police, which is (in my opinion) further testament to their extremely LOUSY parenting skills.

I don't think the courts should treat them harshly, I think the entire family should be ordered into family counseling, and the girls should receive community service. Were they stupid? Very, and very lucky the parents had no lasting medical issues. But, for the parents to request drug testing tells me they have major trust issues with their daughter that go beyond this attempt to keep them asleep.

I don't know if I would have gone the police route or how I would have handled this as a parent of a teen who drugged me in order to break rules, but I see it a bit more seriously than other posters.

There's no history behind the story on the parents or girls.

Poisoning and drugging is a common female offense. Had they been males, perhaps they would have done what the Menendez brothers did to their parents??

Post News, Cops: Girl Drugs Parents' Milkshakes to Go Online.

Two Placer County teenage girls were arrested for allegedly using drugged milkshakes to knock out the parents of one of the girls so they could log on to the Internet, Rocklin police said.

Internet access at the Rocklin home was routinely shut off at 10 p.m., said Lt. Lon Milka, a department spokesman.

Did you all ever see "House Party"?

Paraphrasing from memory here, but Pops said " I'm gonna whup you till I'm tired and I just woke up"!

After that, I would change the passwords on my wireless connection and put my foot through the kid's computer.

I doubt if I would have gotten law enforcement involved, but you can bet I'd have frog-marched the friend who provided the sleeping pills home and let her parents know exactly what she was up to.

No I can honestly say I would not have gone the police route , but I sure would think about whopping their butt and good too . They would not have use of cell phones , interenet , ipod . Oh no leisure activities either . I would also strip their rooms of any conviences they have . make their room like a prison cell and let them know what prison is like and if they keep drugging people that is where they will end up . I think this whole family needs counseling indeed but as far as someone saying that the parents need parenting class give that a break , good parents can raise at least one bad kid .

The computer isn't the big issue here....

This girl is a red flag...a potential Black Widow people will be posting about in 20-30 yrs because her husbands all mysteriously died.

No different than recognizing the red flags for potential serial killers with kids who brutalize small helpless animals.

Unless the computer is ancient, most of them are now equipped with parental controls.
