We had a lady last month arrested for abuse or neglect of a vulnerable adult resulting in death. The house was filthy with roaches, rats, animal feces, "saturated" in garbage and fast food containers.
She had two children in the home and was charged with two counts of unlawful conduct toward a child. The grandmother has the children now. I always wonder about that ... where was grandmother when the kids were living in this hell.

Even if she lived nearby, people are not in touch with extended family the way they used to be.. The kids' teachers, if they are school age, would be in a better position to smell a problem. Literally, in this case!
Now that the poor guy is dead, is his caregiver mourning him or his disability income?

Probably not, she was released from jail on a $15,000 bond.
Poor fellow, so young and what a terrible way to die.
