No I don't have any hardened criminals in my family history, either. Which must mean that I do?

There is a difference between denying something, and being in denial! Certainly, some are in denial. But you can't tell just by the fact that they deny having skeletons in the family closet...
We don't deny our family skeletons--we talk about them and tell the stories over and over, hehehe.

But no major criminals so far that we know of. My sister does genealogy, and we found out that the reason one of the great-grandfathers came here six months after his wife and kids was because he was in jail in Holland for assaulting a coworker. That's about it for the criminal types. On the other hand, we didn't have any big heroes or wealthy innovators, either. I come from a bunch of boring working stiffs who ate a lot of beef stew and other stuff cooked in one big pot.

I have never known a criminal in my life. I live mostly a middle class life with normal people around me. Criminals are not normal - they are just evil, rotten people - plain and simple.

I guess I might be jealous of people that haven't had it in their every day lives. I guess media made me think it was more "the norm". Wasn't brought up to think that way, but married to it must have distorted my thinking some......

So, you know no one with a college degree? A college degree gives you a license to steal!

Lots and lots of white collar criminals out there, unfortunately, free from being arrested!

I work in a LTC/Rehab facility and I confess to being part of one huge criminal enterprise!

Yes, I know plenty of good people with college degrees and none of them steal. I honestly believe that most people are honest and good and dont steal. Abnormal people steal - unless, that is, they are starving and need food or something like that
