Enough with the race baiting... Incidents like this happen all the time to both races , 9 times out of 10 its not about race....sadly its often how easy the person is to rob or attack. Why would Oprah , or any Civil rights leader comment on every crime or be expected to? I'm sorry this guy suffered a vicious death in the hands of these 2 thugs but don't race bait.

BS, and it is pathetic that you even try and make this argument. If this was an 88 year old black man beaten to death by two white boys the usual suspects would be out in full force. Poverty pimps like Jackson and Sharpton take every opportunity to stir up the pot. Since a gun wasn't used in the murder the liberal panderers will not have the chance to blame the weapon. When someone is shot "it's the guns fault". When black youth beat someone to death what is the excuse?

Beating an 89 year old man to death is a horrific crime. No one, including the poster you take issue with, is saying anything else.
What you and a few others are missing though is that while the victim here was white and at least some of the perpetrators black, there is no indication this crime was about race. Race was coincidental.
Jesse Jackson isn't always right, but one would have be historically illiterate not to understand there were killings that took place--particularly in the South--for no other reason than the victim was black. Jackson and others have focused on these killings and incidents because precisely because they were racially motivated. This part of our history has changed for the better and racially based violence (not violence involving victims of different races) is slowly disappearing. That was a legitimate issue to raise in the past and in still might be in a few cases.
Emotion can cloud are minds when something like this happens, but that's the difference.
I am not sure. A resident I spoke with in Spokane states race problems don't happen in Spokane. Any aspect of a hate crime is not tolerated.
But, we don't know what the thugs who beat this veteran were thinking. Did they target him because of race? We can't say there is no race issue, because we don't know the whole story.
