City officials today implicated the suspected murderer of 99-year-old city resident Fannie Gumbinger in five additional burglaries in the City of Poughkeepsie within the last three weeks.

The suspect, Javon Tyrek Rogers, 20, is accused of burglarizing and murdering Gumbinger, who was found dead early Wednesday morning in her home on Underhill Avenue.

There's something about cases which become worldwide media sensations, and something about the (vastly more numerous) ones which stay hidden away in local news. What could it be?

News like this should not be reported until after a trial. It's pre trial jury tampering. If we as individuals did it we would go to jail. It really stinks. Even if guilty a person is still entitled to an honest and fair trial by a jury of his/her peers. Shame on the media looking for ratings to put more of the almighty dollars on their bottom line at the expense of anyone getting a fair trial.
